What I offer

Qualifications and experience

I have a Postgraduate Diploma in Supervision from the University of Wales, Newport, and am an approved supervisor for the National Counselling Society. I am experienced in supervising student and qualified counsellors on a one-to-one basis and in groups, on a private basis and in an agency setting.

My approach

My supervision model is integrative, based on my person-centred philosophy and practice, and drawing from Hawkins and Shohet's seven-eyed process model and the normative, formative and restorative tasks of supervision (Inskipp and Proctor, 1993, 1995). As a supervisor, my aims are to facilitate your process of exploration and reflection on your work and on your therapeutic relationships, helping you to develop your own ‘internal supervisor’, and to support you in taking care of yourself.

Who I work with

I currently have spaces in Bristol (BS10) and Weston-super-Mare (BS22 and BS23) for qualified counsellors and student counsellors seeking individual or group supervision, and am also open to enquiries from agencies looking for supervisors for their counsellors.

Enquiries from other professionals are also welcome, for example teachers, pastors and healthcare professionals, who feel they would benefit from a confidential space to reflect on their practice.

Expectations

I would normally expect us to meet for 1.5 hours a month (twice a month for groups) in accordance with BACP guidelines, but this is negotiable according to your individual requirements, provided that overall you are meeting the supervision requirements of your professional body.

Concessions are sometimes available for student counsellors and for qualified counsellors starting up in private practice. Please ask.

For further information, or to arrange a no-obligation initial meeting at a cost of £10 (to cover costs), please contact me.
